Retirement today: the new retirement

The whole notion of retirement has radically changed. Formerly, we thought of retirement as the beginning of the end - degeneration; today we think of retirement as a new beginning - rejuvenation. It is actually the beginning of a new career/life stage called 'renewal' - a time to let go, move on, learn and adapt to inevitable change.

In addition, while many of us would like to retire early, the pensions crisis and financial worries may postpone it. But retirement doesn’t have to mean the end of working altogether: a different approach to work can play a vital role in our new retirement – and overcome any financial concerns.

So how do you create a lifestyle that is fulfilling, challenging, purposeful and rewarding?

When approaching retirement, you should go through exactly the same process of self-analysis and consultation as you would with a career change. What is it in your working life that satisfies and stimulates, apart from the ability to earn money? What is it you’ve always wanted to do that was prevented by work?

How can you identify these factors and use them to create a new way of living? That's where retirement coaching will help. You have specific needs that require unique coaching and it is through personal coaching from a trained retirement professional, you can:

Obtain a clear picture of your readiness for retirement Ease the retirement transition
Resolve retirement issues and concerns Be ready to face inevitable 'change'
